With President and co-founder Yosef Abramowitz at the helm, Energiya plans to spend $20 billion by 2020 on building 10,000MW of solar capacity in countries as far afield as Rwanda and Romania.
“We have a moral and strategic interest to end the burning of oil for electricity production worldwide by harnessing solar energy while also improving the lives of tens of millions of people,” he said.

To date, the new company has deals under way for a total of 59 megawatts of solar power across the world, which are nearing financial close, as well as another 250 MW under intermediate development, according to Abramowitz. In addition to the $4 million the company has already invested, DS Apex Mergers & Acquisitions announced on October 28 that it would be leading a $10m. fund-raising effort for Energiya – the same day Abramowitz was named “Person of the Year” at an Israeli energy convention.

(Tel Aviv, Israel) – As part of a new, separate venture, the founders of Arava Power Company, have engaged DS Apex M&A Ltd. (subsidiary of DSAP: Tel Aviv) to raise $10 million to fund the development of solar fields outside of Israel.
The team is led by Yosef Abramowitz, today awarded “Person of the Year” by the 2012 Israel Energy and Business Convention, who serves as President of Arava Power Company – Israel’s leading solar developer. In 2009, Siemens bought a 40 percent stake in Arava Power Company, which has developed the only commercial scale grid- connected solar field in Israel and is expected to break ground on eight additional fields shortly.
